This procedure combines a sleeve gastrectomy with a partial bypass by connecting the small intestine to the gastric antrum approximately 250 cm before the ileocecal valve. This new bariatric procedure is characterized by only one anastomosis and makes nutritional deficiencies unlikely by the partial natural intestinal passage. The operation is performed laparoscopically and is suitable for obese patients with diabetes or as revision surgery for the sleeve gastrectomy. In order to achieve a satisfactory long-term weight loss and to avoid malnutrition, a lifelong follow up is necessary.
